ZMA R1 Zhuhai
EJE Engineering teams up with Ghiasport in their Liquidmoly sponsored Toyota Yaris takes a complete Podium.
First competitive race of the 2020 season for EJE Engineering. Due to the Covid-19 situation, competitive racing have been at a stand still around the globe. As the situation improve in China, smaller race events are back in action. Zhuhai Motorsport Association club race (ZMA) had its inaugural race this weekend at Zhuhai International Circuit. Ghiasport successfully fields three Liquidmoly sponsored Toyota Yaris in the B3 Class. EJE is proud to be a part of the team, providing engine tuning and race engineering for the weekend.
The three Toyota's are based on the 2018 CTCC Championship winning Yaris fielded by Ghiasport for DF Toyota TRT. The original Magneti Marelli based electrics and SRA ECU engine mapping was developed by EJE back in 2018. Since leaving CTCC the cars have seen some changes. Motec management is currently used on two of the tree cars and these where re-tuned for the ZMA race. The third car retains the MM setup from 2018.
The weekends started off well with an almost six second pace ahead of the competition in free practice. That gap shrank considerably during qualifying, with still a roughly two second lead in its class the drivers where able to put together a 1,2,4 in B3 class qualifying. Overall in the B class the team managed 2,3,7. It was looking like a close race and getting a 1,2,3 will require some diligence. Hard work and consistent driving paid off as the the team of drivers found their rhythm and blasted their way to a 1,2,3 finish claiming a complete podium finish for the weekend.

CTCC R8 Wuhan
After back to back titles in 2016 & 2017, DF Yueda KIA Racing regains the Manufacturing title for 2019 in its brand new 2.0L Turbocharged GDI powered KIA K3 race car.
the 2019 began with the end of the 1.6T Super classification, replaced with the new 2.0T powered CTCC Super Class. We also saw a switch in race electronics from Magneti Marelli to a compulsory Bosch Motorsport system. This involved a complete redesign of the electronics for the K3. Working with engineers from Hyundai R&D in Nanyang, new engine mapping and related race strategies for the Bosch MS 6.4 engine control unit where developed. New dash displays and power control strategies where also developed for the new system. We had very tight schedule since we had less than two months before shakedown of the four new Kia K3 race cars.
The new season also saw a completely redesigned chassis and aero package developed by the KIA racing team with Hexathron race systems. 2019 was going to be an exciting season as most competitors began fresh with the introduction of new 2.0T class of cars. Only one team had a 2.0T vehicle running in 2018.
Because of the short development time, the first half of the season was spent sorting out various issues with the new chassis and building a more complete engine management map. Different race specific strategies where added into the engine management for better performance and drivability.
Working directly with the KIA team, we managed to do some development work during the one month hiatus between round 5 & 6. We managed to sort our most of the kinks that plagued us during the earlier part of the season. The hard work and commitment paid off as we came back winning both races of Rnd 6.
2019 was an exciting season. We were pushed further and gained more during this season. We have always felt that teamwork was critical in any successful race program. Working alongside the team of engineers at Hexathron, Hyundai R&D, and the guys at team KIA was a challenging, but the Manufacturers title was well worth it. We would like to thank everyone involved and especially the DF Yueda Kia team for their confidence in us and congratulations to the Team.
